On April 22, 1969 the Spanish newspapers echoed the murder of a modest Valencian businessman. His name was Vicente Perez Garcia, and he owned a printing press in Carcaixent, a small town in the province of Valencia. However, in the following days, the media revealed that behind this identity was hiding, in fact, one of the most bloodthirsty war criminals of the Second World War. The name of the victim was Vjekoslav Luburic, and with the degree of colonel of the Croatian army had been responsible for the concentration camps of the Ustachi regime presided over by Ante Pavelic. The Luburic killer was quickly identified, but was never stopped. It was Ilija Stanic, a young Croatian who for two years had gained the confidence of the victim. But in reality, according to the official version that has come to us today, he was a secret agent sent by the Yugoslav regime of Tito to eliminate one of his greatest enemies in exile. This secret plan was codenamed Operation Kobra.
