– The best option is to create music of our time, not the past but also music of the future. A composer can think of the public, also in the musicians, but always has the responsibility to think in the own music, this is coherent.

His work

His works have been performed by important groups and international festivals such as the Lisbon National Conservatory, Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival (Korea), Brassband Excelsior Veenwoudsterwal from Holland, Federazione dei Corpi Bandística di Trento, the interpretation competitions of Veldhoven and Enschede in Holland, CIBM Valencia, Musikfest Baden Württemberg from Germany, Concours National CMF de Niort, Concours National de Musique de Bourbon-Lancy, Concours National de Musique de Abbeville, the contests organized by KNFM and KNMO from Holland, etc.

His band music is recorded on a multitude of CD’s by important groups from Holland, France, Spain and Portugal mainly, distributed mainly by the Dutch publisher Molenaar Edtition for which he works and with whom he released his first monographic album in 2015 with the title ‘Flash, the wind music of Carlos Pellicer’.

Awards and Recognition

He has received many national and international awards. The most outstanding prizes are: the second prize and Honorable Mention of the XXVII Edition of the prestigious International Contest for Original Band Composition in Corciano, Italia 2009, the first prize of the same contest in the XXIX Edition 2013 and the Euterpe award of music 2014 (Valencia, Spain).

Commissions and advice

He is usually required as a musical advisor in different recordings, to offer different conferences and talks on composition or participate as a jury in various national and international competitions, highlighting his participation as a member of the jury of the International Music Bands Contest “Ciudad de Valencia” 2018, the Corciano International Composition Competition (Italy) and the Jeju International Composition Competition (Korea). His work is common in different countries, with professional or amateur bands, preparing and conducting his own music, especially in Europe.

In recent years, his work in the band field has led him to receive commissions and premiere his works in more than twenty countries around the world such as Spain, Norway, the Netherlands, the United States, Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Brazil, Italy, Taiwan, Poland, Singapore, UK, Japan, etc. He has collaborated with such important international musicians as Steven Mead, Pacho Flores, Ximo Vicedo, Ricardo Carvalhoso, David Rejano, Raúl García, Esaú Borredá, Raúl Benavent, Toni Scholl, Josep Burguera or the or the prestigious belgian quintet `Belgian Brass’.

Current projects

You can currently find out about current projects with some of these international artists. Work sessions with band, lectures, master classes with them, rehearsals or concerts with music by Carlos Pellicer, etc.

Undoubtedly, two of his most important works are his two symphonies for large wind orchestra, Remembrance and Symphonia Luminosa. The latter was commissioned by the SBO Kreuzlingen, Switzerland, for participation in the 2026 Swiss Federal Wind Orchestra Competition and will premiere in December 2025.

He combines composition with teaching and conducting, being the principal conductor of the Unió Musical d’Albaida l’Aranya (Spain).
